An interesting documentary on the ancient history of what is now Saudi Arabia produced by the government of Saudi Arabia that includes historians and archaeologists describing its history. It was made by the Saudi government, it presents what appear to be reasonable historical analysis of the history, and especially focuses on the role of its roads as routes of pilgrimage of Muslims to Mecca and also as trade routes of valuable products centuries prior to the adoption of Islam and after. It shows ancient artifacts from its pre-Islamic era onward.

I'm somewhat surprised that it has been difficult to find people thus far given Islam is constantly talked about these days, this land is were Islam was created. Though I suppose there is more political rather than historical interest these days.
